She has a strong jaw, long dark hair, and striking blue eyes that are either stunningly beautiful or really fucking creepy, depending on the viewer (Zoe will invariably say creepy). She tends to wear a lot of jeans, t-shirts, and steel-toed shitkicker boots, and she speaks with the completely goofy Derry accent.
Likes & Dislikes: likes: animals, dragons, horses, horse riding, alcohol, privacy, time with friends and family, getting shit done, transfiguration
dislikes: stupid pet owners, bigots, feeling stupid, stupidity in general, blood, being sick, her looks (insecure teenager ahoy!), peas, laziness, herbology
Personality: Zoe is like a shellfish. Hard, chitinous shell, soft, delicious insides. Okay, that's a bad metaphor. Zoe tends to be very proud, stubborn, and loyal outwardly, but she's pretty sensitive and sweet internally and has a natural tendency to trust. She's been taken advantage of enough times that she's built up a reflex to be wary, but she's not any more damaged than a typical girl her age, and she will still be almost blindly loyal to someone she feels has earned her trust.
Generally, once Zoe sets her mind to something, she is going to do everything possible to make it happen no matter what happens in the middle, too stubborn and determined to be dissuaded. Under the right (or wrong) circumstances this can nearly become a singleminded obsession. When Zoe pays attention to something, she pays a lot of it. She often has to be reminded to look at a bigger picture rather than the small details of something.
Potions, potions, and more potions. Any Slytherin born under a water sign will excel at potions, and the Cancer Slytherin is no exception. The leadership ability and the lofty dreams of Cancer will also be emphasized; as will loyalty (directed for the most part to one's House). Slytherins born under the sign of Cancer will be more hard-shelled and less sentimental than other Cancers, but don't be fooled by their bossy, efficient exteriors. On the inside they are soft and needy, and they learn from a young age to hide this well. Slytherins born under water signs have another thing in common with each other: keen insight into what makes other people tick. These Slytherins are good at manipulating other people's emotions, and good as well at quickly learning the hidden stories behind the otherwise inexplicable actions of acquaintances. They never forget a cut or a kindness, so it is best to stay on their good side unless you want an obsessive, vindictive enemy.
Relationships: father, Alex Accrington, farmer Alex has a farm...which might be more like a ranch, but he raises animals. Food, pets, working animals, Alex raises or has raised all of them. Zoe's not that close with her father, but she feels like she can go to him for advice if nothing else.
mother, Mary Accrington nee Doyle, Muggle, secretary Mrs. Accrington has been a fixture in her office for nearly thirty years and she fills the homemaker role ably alongside it. Zoe doesn't want her mother's life, but admires her anyway and is closer to her than her father.
brother, Patrick Accrington, Committee of Experimental Charms, Ravenclaw '93 Patrick is more the academic type. He's so skinny that Zoe outweighs him and he even wears glasses, but she loves him and she's pretty sure he loves her, even if he doesn't seem to know what to do with a little sister much of the time. Anyone who messes with him has to deal with her.
Background: Zoe Accrington is a middle class Irish halfblood who grew up on a farm near Limerick (they're technically in Newmarket-on-Fergus in County Clare, and Limerick is the nearest real city), so she was as surprised as anyone when she was Sorted into Slytherin. She thought maybe it wasn't as heavy on rich purebloods as she'd always heard, but she watched her year slowly fill with snobs and rich bitches who would look down on her Muggle mother and wonder what kind of person couldn't afford...whatever nonsense they bought. Zoe went into her school career assuming her assigned peers had never done an honest day's work in their lives, and she's still not convinced she was wrong.
She was born just under a month before Harry Potter, her might-have-been-famous peer. She always knew she was a witch, and also knew that there were some things magic couldn't do. She was largely assigned these tasks as soon as she was old enough to handle them, and still shows the same work ethic. She woke up early to do chores, went to a Muggle primary school, then came home, worked a little more, did homework, ate, and went to bed. She had some problems with bullying in school, taking lunch money from the skinny kids and such, but she generally lost interest before anyone really got pounded hard. She still has Muggle friends from her childhood both from school and from nearby farms, who think she's off at an exclusive girls' school in London.
At home, magic tended to take a backseat to caring for the animals (even if some of them were, in fact, magical), so Hogwarts was pretty exciting. It was hard to be really pissed about being a Slytherin when everything was so freaking cool, so Zoe made friends both within her house and without and developed at least as much House pride as her yearmates by the end of her first year. Zoe has continued to get decent-if-not-stellar grades, and thinks she'd like to be either a Healer or a dragon trainer. Or possibly a hitwitch. Or go back to the farm with Dad. Or maybe run a magical creature rescue. But almost definitely one of the first two.
Plot Intentions: If Slytherin should happen to hear about anything going down, she'll pass information to the DA. Similar with any DE-like classmates. She could pretty easily be recruited to the DA or the Order but we'll see how that goes.
